The “Brücke” Artists
From 16 November: The “Brücke” Artists
16 November 2019 to 1 June 2020
The artists’ association “Die Brücke”, founded in Dresden in 1905, marked the beginning of modern art in Germany. Many of its members, such as Erich Heckel, Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Karl Schmidt-Rottluff, later Otto Mueller and Emil Nolde, are among the best-known and most popular Expressionist artists today. They rebelled against traditional painting and academic traditions and revolutionised early 20th century art.
The presentation is dedicated to the works of these influential artists. Using selected paintings, drawings, prints and photographic material from the extensive collection of the Lehmbruck Museum, it focuses on the protagonists of this movement and provides a comprehensive insight into the life and works of these exceptional artists.
