The City Studio
26 August 2018 to 22 April 2019
We see the museum as a place of communication between man and art, uniting enjoyment, education and new experiences. We want to give visitors from all spheres of life a vibrant impression of the quality, development and reach of modern sculpture. The museum is a fertile ground on which people can develop own ideas, discover new ways of communication and interaction and, through own artistic activities, develop skills to cope creatively with new and unknown challenges. With our new project, THE CITY STUDIO, we want to enable and initiate encounters between people of different ages and backgrounds and with different interests.
THE CITY STUDIO creates a network for the artistic potential of our city, offering a whole floor of creative arrangements to be discovered: there are traditional sculpting materials like clay, wire, or a printing workshop, but also unusual materials like a 3D Doodler or an interactive sand sculpture. Some artworks invite visitors to interact with them, play with the art or simply enjoy it. Separate areas offer quiet spots or retreats where people can read, relax or play.
You can meet for artistic activities here, explore THE CITY STUDIO on your own or, without prior registration or additional fees, come to the open workshop sessions on weekends. In the open workshops, artists will introduce various artistic techniques to the visitors. THE CITY STUDIO will also be open on every first Friday of the month, the “Pay what you want” day when everybody decides for themselves how much to pay for admittance.
